In 2016, global institutions and governments have invested a total of US$71 billion in R&D and manufacturing of robotics. The future global spending on robotic is expected to grow from US$71 billion in 2016 to US$1,354 billion in 2019. In 2016, Asia-Pacific region (including Japan) in the robot-related investment accounted for 65%, followed by the Central and Eastern Europe. America comes to number 3.
Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United States and other high-tech development countries take robotic development as key research projects. For instance, (i) Google’s large-scale acquisition of technology companies in R&D robot is very aggressive. I believe the future trend will be more resources invested to develop new industries. (ii) Each year the Japanese government approved about US$2.6 million as research capital for Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro of University of Tokyo, Japan to study robotic technology. Researches who developed human robot can be divided into two types: armor shell and human skin. Currently, Japan is focusing on human-like robots while other countries concentrate on metal shaped robots.
The Russian billionaire founder of robot project "2045 Future World" (http://2045.com) believed that human mind and soul can be transferred to the robot drive on the shell. So, in year 2015, the Russian held a high-tech robot exhibition in New York. It invited many robot scientists for presentations and drew big international attention.
Robotics technology began around 10 years ago. According to IDC's (International Data Corporation) newly published Global Commercial Robot Spending Guidelines, "Robot is one that will transform future production technology. More and more robots enter various fields, such as electronics, healthcare, retail, health care, logistics, agriculture, services, education, and even government departments". Therefore, we must devote developing robotic technology before we are left behind.
